Lucas Neill is undergoing a medical at Everton with a view to moving to the Goodison Park club on a free transfer.
The 31-year-old Australia international arrived at the Toffees’ Finch Farm training complex on Thursday.
Neill, who also held talks with Sunderland and Spanish outfit Atletico Madrid, is a free agent after his deal with West Ham expired this summer.
He joined the Hammers from Blackburn – turning down Liverpool in the process – in January 2007, and was made skipper of the Hammers that summer.
After making 89 appearances for the Londoners he turned down the offer of a new one-year contract in June.
