Villarreal striker Nihat Kahveci has suffered another knee injury that could put him out of action for the rest of the season.
“Right now I’ve been told that Nihat will be out for six months with a knee injury,” said club representative Jose Manuel Llaneza.
“It seems that this year we have been hit by this type of injury and we’ll have to see if we now sign a new forward to replace him or if we try and carry on without one.”
The club confirmed on its web site that the Turkish international had suffered a suspected tear to the anterior cruciate ligament in his left knee.
Nihat, who joined Villarreal from Real Sociedad at the end of last season, suffered the same injury to his left knee in February 2005 and was missed the rest of the season.
