Real Betis striker Ricardo Oliveira will be out for about four months after injuring his right knee during last night’s 1-0 Champions League win over Chelsea.

“There is a fracture in the bone structure of the knee but it has not been displaced,” doctor Santiago Perez Hidalgo said.

“The ligaments are all strained but they do not appear to have been torn.”

The Brazil forward was injured in a clash with Chelsea defender Ricardo Carvalho.

“We will now have to see how the knee responds,” added doctor Tomas Calero.

“If luck is with us he may be able to play again by February but we will have to wait and see if our estimates are correct.”

Oliveira was Betis’s leading scorer last season with 22 league goals.
