Michael Owen insists he is happy with life at Real Madrid and pleased with his first season at the club.

The England striker has spent long spells on the bench at the Santiago Bernabeu this term, but he has still manged to score 14 goals. In recent weeks he has suppplanted Luis Figo in the starting eleven to form a potent attacking trio with Raul and Ronaldo.

“I think the season’s been a good start for me personally,” he stated.

“It’s been a very enjoyable season, if I wanted everything I would like to have won a trophy.

“Either La Liga or the (UEFA) Champions League would be fantastic, it’s the only thing that has been missing from the season everything else has been perfect and I’ve enjoyed every bit of it.

“Hopefully next year can be a bit different.”

Owen also admitted that he would like to see Frank Lampard at the club.

Lampard recently topped a poll among the club’s supporters when they were asked which player they would most like to see Madrid sign.

“Lampard is a fantastic player who has won the league title and the League Cup this season,” he added.

“He is playing for a big club and he is happy because he is playing in his home town of London.

“I have never spoken to him about his situation and he has not asked me about Madrid, but if he does I shall tell him. If there is an interest from Madrid to sign him I would not be surprised because he is a great player.”
