Palermo have reappointed Francesco Guidolin just weeks after sacking him as manager.

Guidolin was fired following the recent 4-3 home defeat to Parma and replaced by his assistant Renzo Gobbo.

However, with Palermo continuing to struggle and their chances of qualifying for the Champions League evaporating, Guidolin has been brought back for the final two games of the season in an attempt to salvage a Uefa Cup spot.

“Palermo announce that they have revoked the sacking of Francesco Guidolin,” said a statement on the club’s official website.

Guidolin guided Palermo to promotion in 2004 and then took them to sixth the following year. He left to take charge of Monaco in 2005 before returning to Palermo 12 months ago.
