Palermo have sacked Walter Zenga after Sunday’s draw with Catania extended their run of games with out a win to four matches.

Zenga only took over at Palermo in the summer and despite being given a vote of confidence ahead of the Catania, club president Maurizio Zamparini has a change of heart.

A statement from the club read: “Palermo announces it has dismissed Walter Zenga as coach of the first team.

“The club wishes to thank Zenga for the work done and wishes him the best of luck in the future.”

Former Lazio coach Delio Rossi is understood to be the leading contender to replace Zenga.
