Aberdeen have appointed Steve Paterson as their new manager, following last month’s resignation of Ebbe Skovdahl.

Paterson, who has been in charge of leaves Inverness Caledonian Thistle foor the last seven years, will be joined at Pittodrie by former Caley number two Duncan Shearer.

“To me Aberdeen is Scotland’s third largest club and to have the chance to manage them is a huge opportunity for me,” said Paterson.

“It wasn’t easy deciding to leave Caley Thistle after seven wonderful years, but I’m ambitious and want to show I can be a success at the top level.

“We’ll assess what we’ve got here and continue with the club’s good youth development programme.
