Italian club Perugia have performed a u-turn by reversing their decision to sack South Korean striker Ahn Jung-hwan.

The club’s owner Luciano Gaucci had previously sacked Ahn after the Korean scored the golden goal that knocked Italy out of the World Cup.

‘I am not going to pay the salary of a guy who has been theruin of Itallian football,’ he said at the time.

But yesterday a club spokesman claimed the outburst was ‘an emotional reaction’ and confirmed that Perugia would take up their option to buy Ahn on a permanent basis.

The transfer fee is believed to be £1million.
