Gica Popescu, veteran Romanian midfielder, has quit Dinamo Bucharest after the weekend’s 2-0 defeat by Otelul Galati.
Angry fans jeered and whistled Popescu who had returned to the club with the prospect of a management role after the end of his playing contract next June.
Popescu, former PSV, Tottenham, Barcelona and Galatasaray star said: “I had a long discussion with the club’s directors and wehave decided it is in everyone’s best interests if we come to an immediate parting of the ways. It’s disappointing but that’s football.”
