Croatian football was coming to terms with the tragic news that Osijek’s Under-21 international Danijel Popovic has been killed in a car crash.
Popovic died last night when the car he was driving spun out of control and crashed into a post carrying power cables.
Osijek have already announced that their match this weekend against Zagreb has been postponed.
Popovic joined Osijek in the summer and made an immediate impression, scoring four goals in Osijek’s first eleven matches, including one last weekend. He was also a member of Croatia’s Under-21 side, and was on target in their recent international with Estonia.
