European champions Porto have continued to strengthen their squad for the coming season, with 19-year-old Brazilian, Diego, the latest addition to their line-up.

Diego will arrive today to sign a 4-year contract with ‘the Dragons’, and have the unenviable task of filling the boots of Deco, the naturalised Portuguese international.

Diego shot to stardom over the last year alongside Santos team-mate Robinho and the youngster was reportedly close to a move to the Premiership with Tottenham Hotspur. Porto will spend only a tiny fraction of the money received for Deco, Diego costing little more than 8m Euros.

Besides Deco, Porto have already lost Pedro Mendes, Ricardo Carvalho and Paulo Ferreira, both to Chelsea, as well as manager Jose Mourinho. However, they have spent the money received, on former star Helder Postiga, exciting winger Ricardo Quaresma, Greek Euro 2004 defender Giourkas Seitaridis and now Diego.
