Portsmouth manager Harry Redknapp has admitted David Nugent may be sold just weeks after making a £6m summer move from Preston.
Nugent, 22, scored his first goal for his new club in the 3-0 win against Leeds in the Carling Cup on Tuesday, but Redknapp confirmed he could be on the move, with Derby reportedly interested.
“Sometimes when you are trying to raise money you have to sell someone you don’t really want to sell,” admitted Redknapp. “That could be David but it could be others.
“What we need is somebody who can get us 15 to 20 goals a season and if we can do some good business and improve the team we will.
“He’s a young player and obviously he wants to play but at the moment Kanu has been absolutely brilliant, John Utaka’s a threat and Benjani does well.
Newspaper reports suggest Redknapp wants to sign Bolton striker Nicolas Anelka – but he may have to sell before he buys.
