Jose Mourinho’s achivement in leading Porto to successive victories in the UEFA Cup and UEFA Champions League will be recognised by an award from the Portuguese government at a Lisbon based ceremony on Wednesday.

The Chelsea boss will receive a national medal for sporting merit (Colar de Honra Merito Desportivo) at the official residence of the Portuguese prime minister, Pedro Santana Lopes, who will present the award.

The 42-year-old coach guided the Porto team to victory over Celtic in the UEFA Cup Final in 2003 and then beat Monaco in last season’s Champions League final.
