Tottenham manager Juande Ramos has conceded that it is club chairman Daniel Levy who will decide whether Dimitar Berbatov remains with the club.

The Spaniard was speaking in the wake of Berbatov’s four-goal haul in Saturday’s 6-4 win over Reading.

The Bulgarian striker has been strongly linked with a move when the transfer window opens in January.

“He made a great contribution against Reading. Magnificent,” said the Spurs boss.

“He is a very valuable player for us.

“But I cannot assure that he is going to stay at the club because the chairman has to decide that.

“The chairman knows I want Berbatov to stay. If it was up to me we would not lose him but there are different circumstances and factors that we have to take into account such as the player’s opinion and feelings.

“If it was up to me he would continue with us.”
