Valencia president Juan Bautista Soler has that Claudio Ranieri position as coach of the club is safe until the end of the season.

The champions’ 2-1 home defeat by Deportivo Coruna on Saturday left them fourth in the Primera Liga table, 16 points behind leaders Barcelona, and effecitvely ended their hopes of retaining their title.

“In principle the coach’s job is not under threat. I have said that on June 30 we will evaluate the season as a whole and take any decisions then, in the best interests of the club,” Soler told sports daily Marca’s website on Monday.

“To act before then could have a negative effect on the team just as we enter a period where we have games on both Wednesdays and Sundays.”

Ranieri returned for a second spell at Valencia last year after Rafael Benitez left the club to join Liverpool.
