Real Sociedad president Jose Luis Astiazaran has claimed his club has received what he describes as a ‘serious offer’ from Manchester United for Turkish striker Nihat Kahveci.
Nihat has been a key factor in Sociedad’s unexpected charge for the Spanish title this season, and his performances have attracted interest from several of Europe’s leading clubs.
“There are some offers for Nihat,” Astiazaran told the Turkish press.
“But Manchester United’s offer is the most serious.
“If Nihat want to play for ManchesterUnited, this transfer can become fact.”
Nihat’s contract with the Basque club runs until 2006, but Sociedad may be temptedto cash in on him if a bid in the region of €10 million was forthcoming.
