Referee Mark Clattenburg, who came in for severe criticsm from Everton manager David Moyes, has been dropped from the roster for the next set of Premiership matches this weekend.

The Professional Game Match Board made the decision after Moyes complained about the erratic performace of Clattenburg during Everton’s 2-1 defeat to Liverpool on Saturday.

Moyes was angry that Dirk Kuyt, who scored the last minute winner from the penalty spot, had earlier escaped with a yellow card from referee Mark Clattenburg for a wild two-foooted lunge on Everton captain Phil Neville in the Merseyside derby.

The Everton manager was also furious that Everton were denied what looked a stonewall penalty in the dying seconds of the game. Clattenburg, who had earlier awarded two penalties to the visitors, waved play on after Joleon Lescott appeared to have been hauled to the ground by Liverpool defender Jamie Carragher.
