Marseille’s promising midfielder Franck Ribery has admitted he would prefer to play in Spain than England, if he leaves his current club.

The winger has been linked with a number of English clubs, including Manchester United, Chelsea and Tottenham, but Real Madrid are the latest side said to be keen on signing him.

“I heard that said [about Real’s interest],” he told But. “But that does not preoccupy me.

“My agent takes care of that.

“There are clubs that are very interested in me but I am very well here. It pleases me to hear it said that clubs like that are very interested in me.

“It proves that I am doing good work with my club.”

When asked which European league attracts him most, Ribery replied: “Spain. I like it a lot because there are a lot of technical players.

“In England, it is different.

“There are more duels and fight. I like Spanish football very much.”
