Barcelona coach Frank Rijkaard has warned his players that they should not begin celebrating winning the title until it is mathematically impossible for Real Madrid to overtake them in La Liga.

The 4-0 win at Malaga maintained Barca’s six-point lead over Real with only five games remaining, but Rijkaard is taking nothing for granted.

“This is a very important step to the title but, at this moment, it is never decided,” stated the Dutchman.

“The players worked individually and as a team perfectly. These matches are very complicated and the triumph in Malaga is very important for me.

“In the next matches, we are only interested in victories,” he added.

“Now I don’t want the players to be crazy.

“We have five matches and the best thing is to think about each match because there are many possibilities.

“Discipline and work are behind our success in this Liga and that must not change.”

Playmaker Ronaldinho believes the comprehensive victory over Malaga, may have a demoralising effect on Real.

“More than the 4-0 scoreline, the most important effect of our win is the psychological blow,” the Brazilian told reporters.

“It was important to beat Malaga, but we cannot afford to relax as we have to continue winning games because we are not champions yet.”
