Milan striker Rivaldo, who opened his account for his new club in Sunday’s 4-1 win over Atalanta, may miss Wednesday’s vital Champions League match against Bayern Munich after limping off in the second-half with a knee injury.

‘I felt a slightpain in my right knee,’ Ronaldo said. ‘I’m hoping to play on Wednesday against Bayern in the Champions League, but we’ll see.’

Rivalso took centre stage in the absence of Milan’s in-form Filippo Inzaghi, who missed the match with a foot injury. The Brazilian opened the scoring against bottom-of-the-table Atalanta to ensure three points for Milan. The win takes Carlo Ancelotti’s side to the top of Serie A, level on points with city rivals Inter.

Ancelotti dismmissed fears that the loss of Inzaghi could upset the balance of his team.

‘Pippo (Filippo Inzaghi) has always added the final touch to the team’s work,’ he said.

‘But we’re also happy to have played this match without him.

‘Inzaghi is a great striker and he’s in excellent form. At the moment, unfortunately, he has a few physical problems, but there are plenty of players in this Milan side capable of scoring goals.’
