Rivaldo has ended speculation about his future by agreeing to join Brazilian champions Cruzeiro.

Cruzeiro have confirmed that the former Deportivo Coruna, Barcelona and Milan striker had signed a one-year contract which sees him return to his homeland after spending seven years in Europe.

The Belo Horizonte-based club said a local pharmaceutical company was helping to pay the wages of the player who failed to make an impact at Milan.

The former world player of the year has been linked with several clubs since it was announced that he would be leaving Milan last month, but few people expected him to return to Brazil.
