Barcelona have tried to assuage the fears of their supporters by claiming that Rivaldo will not be sold to their arch-rivals Real Madrid.
“The fans of Barcelona can be calm,” stated club spokesman Josep Maria Coronas. “Rivaldo will not sign for Real Madrid.”
Real have expressed an interest in signing Rivaldo and it is difficult to imagine how Barcellona could veto a move if the player indicates a preference for a mmoveto the Bernabeu.
Other clubs believed to be interested in signing the World Cup winner, include Milan, Lazio and Manchester United.
Earlier, Rivaldo has that it was the return of Louis van Gaalto the club that prompted his decision to leave.
“I don’t like van Gaal and he surely doesn’t like me either,” admitted Rivaldo.
“Its something that comes from our past experience together. I believe that this was the main reason for my exit.”
