River Plate have revealed that they are in talks with Real Madrid over the transfer of Javier Mascherano.
River chief Jose Maria Aguilar has confirmed holding talks with Real’s sporting director Emilio Butragueno.
“Yes it is certain that I received a call from Emilio Butragueno,” revealed Aguilar.
“He declared that his club had an interest in establishing a contact with Mascherano to speak about his future.”
The player himself admitted that he knew nothing of any transfer talk.
“Really, I do not know anything of this subject,” said Maschareno.
“I cannot think about things that are still not real, because it is not done.
“I must think about River Plate, that it is my club, and in the Argentine national side.
” Everything I know is what the newspapers say.”
