Bayern Munich have spotted some light at the end of the tunnel with regard to the fitness of injured winger Arjen Robben.

The 26-year-old has been ruled out so far this season after sustaining a hamstring injury during Holland’s final warm-up game before the World Cup in the summer.

Robben did play a significant part in South Africa, prompting Bayern to accuse the Dutch Football Association of misdiagnosing his injury.

Robben has recently returned to the club’s training ground and has participated in running sessions ahead of his expected comeback in the New Year.

“Robben has returned to a positive outlook on the whole,” Bayern coach Louis van Gaal told AD Sportwereld.

“We are at least working towards a time when Arjen can play again.”
