Roma’s majority shareholders have denied reports that an offer has been received from the Dubai Investment Capital group.

DIC, who recently tried to buy Liverpool, have been linked with a takeover bid for the Serie A outfit.

Sheikh Mohammed confirmed that DIC was interested in buying a stake in the club currently owned by Italpetroli SpA.

But Italpetroli insists that no offer has been received from DIC.

“No offer has been formalised from (a foreign investor) or by others that the press describes as potentially interested and that, therefore, all the news that has appeared in recent days about bids being rejected are to be considered completely without foundation,” read the statement.

“Compagnia Italpetroli also considered it appropriate to clarify that it has not received an offer from the Royal family of the United Arab Emirates.”
