Ronaldinho has revealed that the key to his current form AC Milan has been his off-field happiness.

The Brazilian scored an impressive hat-trick in Milan’s 4-0 victory over Siena, a result that saw the Rossoneri close the gap on league leaders Inter to three points, with a game in hand and a meeting with the reigning champions later this month.

And Ronaldinho, who has now scored six goals in his past three games, admitted his delight at rediscovering the sort of form form that saw him regarded as the world’s best player.

“I feel the love and so I am happy,” he told Sky Italia. “I step on to the field happy and everything goes smoothly from there.

“The Inter fans have said nothing ahead of the derby and I respect them a lot. When we play Inter they always treat me nicely and I thank them.

“I don’t know if we will win the Scudetto, but we just need to keep playing well and having fun.”

Ronaldinho’s resurgence will increase the calls for him to be included in Brazil’s World Cup squad.

“Ronaldinho scored a great goal, one of rare beauty,” said Milan coach Leonardo, referring to his fellow Brazilian’s curling shot past Siena’s substitute keeper Gianluca Pegolo from the edge of the area.

“But that’s what he’s like, a player who does fantastic things. It all comes down to him. If he is in the mood and determined, then he does things no one else in the world can.”
