Ronaldo has ended speculation that he was set to return to Brazil with Flamengo, by opting to stay with Milan.
The Brazilian has made just two appearances this season as he struggles to overcome a thigh injury.
He was given permission by Milan to discuss a move to Flamengo, but the striker has decided to remain in Italy.
“It’s true there is an interest from Flamengo,” said Ronaldo.
“But personally I’ve never spoken or written anything with reference to this.
“My desire is to earn an important place at Milan. This is the team that I wish to play with, the team that has always shown me faith.”
However, Flamengo vice-president Kleber Leite is confident Ronaldo will soon put pen-to-paper on a pre-contract agreement.
“We’ve had a meeting with the agent of Ronaldo, Fabiano Farah, and we have advanced in some things,” he told Terra Brazil.
“If everything keeps going in the way we expect then we will sign a pre-contract with him that would start in July.
“Ronaldo would be at Flamengo by the middle of the year.”
