Sampdoria have expressed an interest in signing Real Madrid’s out-of-favour forward Antonio Cassano.

The Italy international has struggled to make an impact at Real and has been tipped to return to Serie A.

“He is one of the players with the best talent in Italian football,” Sampdoria sporting director Beppe Marotta told RAI.

“It is obvious that Sampdoria is interested in him.”

The former Roma player has fallen out with a number of coaches during his career, but Marotta feels these issues are now behind him.

Marotta added: “Cassano is a man now.

“He knows that a move to Sampdoria can be important for his career.

“He knows well not to repeat the attitudes that have penalised him in the last few years.”
