Blackburn Rovers are poised to complete the signing of midfielder Robbie Savage from Birmingham, acccording to a report on BBC Radio WM.

Birmingham had previously rejected a transfer request for the Welsh international, but manager Steve Bruce has that 30-year-old Savage has played his last game for the club.

Savage originally claimed he wanted to leave Birmingham so he could be closer to his parents’ home in Wrexham.

Blackburn have submittted two bids for Savage in recent weeks, but until now, Birmigham have been reluctant to sell.

“It remains totally unacceptable to us, therefore the player will not be moving to Blackburn,” said Birmingham’s managing director Karren Brady.

St Andrews manager Bruce also denied Savage was for sale.

“Why the hell should I sell him to someone else? I am not interested,” said Bruce earlier in January.
