Schalke have joined the race to sign Milan Baros and have opened talks about a move.

The Bundesliga outfit recently sold Ailton to Besiktas and they have now targeted Baros as his replacement.

With Liverpool signing Peter Crouch last week, Baros days at Anfield appear numbered.

Aston Villa and West Ham have expressed an interest in signing the Czech striker, but Schalke – who can offer UEFA Champions League football – have now entered the race.

“I can admit that I have had a meeting with Schalke manager Rudi Assauer,” confirmed Baros’s agent Pavel Paska.

“The name Baros has been noted. Schalke are one of the interested clubs. Nothing more.”
