Getafe boss Bernd Schuster has admitted he would be happy to work at Atletico Madrid.

The German has impressed observers by leading unfancied Getafe to a respectable eighth place in La Liga where they lie two points above Schuster’s former club Atletico.

When asked whether he would consider taking the Atletico job, he stated: “Everything depends on Atletico.

“Their directors have a profile of the coach they want and I can do nothing to affect that.

“If there was an offer I would be delighted because I love Atletico Madrid.

“I got on really well with Jesus Gil (former Atletico president) and with the fans.

“But going back to coach them is not something that depends on me, and what’s more I am really happy at Getafe.”

Current Atletico coach, the Argentinian Carlos Bianchi, is under pressure after his side’s disappointing start to the season.
