Bernd Schuster has extended his contract as coach of Getafe until 2008, the Primera Liga side have confirmed.

“After five months working here we have reached a mutual agreement to extend his contract for another two years,” club president Angel Torres told a news conference.

“I’m delighted with the work he has done and our aim is to consolidate a long-term project at the club.”

Schuster, who was appointed as Getafe coach on a one-year contract in June, has made an impressive start at the club, leading them to the top of the standings early in the season and although they have since suffered a dip in form they still lie in a respectable 9th spot.

Schuster coached Levante last season but was sacked four games from the end of the season ass the club headed for relegation.
