Argentina have begun the search for a new national team coach following their disappointing performances in the World Cup.

Current boss Marcelo Bielsa is expected to step down when his contract expires at the end of June, following the Argentine’s embarrassing first round exit.

Inter boss Hector Cuper is the latest name to be mentioned, following his recent successes at Valencia and more recently

However, although flattered by the speculation, Cuper says he intends to remain at the San Siro for the forthcoming year.

“I’m very happy that I have been linked with this job to lead the national team” he said.

“But I can’t consider the possibility at the moment because I still have a year left on my contract with Inter” he added.

Jose Pekerman is favourite for the job. Diego Maradona has also indicated his interest and would be a popular choice amongst many Argentines.
