Security concerns could force the postponement of Serbia and Montenegro’s EURO 2004 Group 9 qualifying match against Wales, scheduled to be played in Belgrade next week.

UEFA and the authorities in Serbia and Montenegro are involved in discussions due to security concerns in the country, where a state of emergency is in force.

“Concerns regarding the staging of the game have been raised with us today,” said UEFA communications and public affairs director Mike Lee.

“Discussions are now under way with the relevant authorities, and UEFA will make an announcement regarding this fixture on Tuesday.”
