Andriy Shevchenko intends to finish his career at Chelsea, according to Milan vice-president Adriano Galliani.

The Ukrainian striker’s future has been the subject of speculation this week amid reports claiming he could be set for a quick return to Milan.

However, Shevchenko moved to play down the rumours and insisted he was happy at Chelsea despite not yet being at his best.

“It’s useless feeding false hopes, Shevchenko is a Chelsea player and he will end his career there,” said Galliani.

“To us it will remain the fantastic memory of the seven years he lived in Milan and of his 175 goals scored.

“175, yes, because I consider also the one he scored in Barcelona, in the Champions League semi-final last year that had been unjustly disallowed against him.”
