Midfield playmaker Wesley Sneijder insists he would not be short of options if he decided to leave Inter.
The Dutch international, who arrived in Milan from Real Madrid last summer, has been in talks with the club about extending his contract.
“If I want to leave I’d have so many options but the priority is to find a new deal with Inter and I think that it will happen soon,” Sneijder told La Gazzetta dello Sport.
“The issue is that I’m no longer 20, but 26. At this stage of career I should consider everything that can happen.
“I don’t think it will be a problem closing the contract renewal. There are only details, the little things.”
Reigning champions Inter currently sit second in the Serie A standings behind Lazio, and Sneijder believes the could could dip into the January transfer market following an injury-affected start to the campaign.
“Maybe we’ll go on the market in January, who knows,” he said.
“We’ve had many accidents and maybe because of this we should intervene, but they are things that don’t concern me, there are leaders who think about this.
“I see it the same as everyone in the club – injury explains many things, this is the common opinion.
“But the ambitions of Inter, even if we have a successful season behind us, remain enormous.”
Sneijder insists new manager Rafa Benitez is “totally different” to former boss Jose Mourinho, who departed for Real Madrid at the end of last season.
“With him (Mourinho) I had a special relationship and I’m happy to have had him as a coach,” said Sneijder.
“He and Benitez are totally different, it is useless to compare them and (Benitez) is now developing a new story.”
Inter have endured an inconsistent start to the season, with only three wins in six games, and Sneijder feels his side could have been feeling the effects of their Treble success last term, as well as this year’s World Cup.
“The start of this season was not easy for a set of physical and psychological reasons,” he said.
“A season like ours last one, plus the World Cup, leaves you empty.
“But I see that we played some good matches and I’m happy with how we are going to counterattack, both with Inter and with my national team.”
