Spanish side Real Sociedad say they will not release coach Chris Coleman despite Bolton Wanderers’s interest in recruiting the former Welsh international as a replacement for Sammy Lee.

“It is very clear. He has a three-year contract with us and he is the coach who we are placing our confidence in for that period,” Sociedad sporting director Salva Iriarte told the club’s Web site.

Iriarte said that Sociedad had received a fax from Bolton asking if they could speak to the former Fulham manager but that when he had spoken to Coleman about the matter the coach had assured him he wanted to remain at the club.

“He’s happy here, committed to the project and keen to carry on,” Iriarte said.

“I’ve no doubt that he will be our coach for the next three years.”

Coleman took charge of Sociedad following their relegation to the second division last season.
