Spain would prefer to launch a joint-bid with Portugal for the 2018 World Cup, according to the head of the country’s football federation.
President Angel Maria Villar has already said that Spain would bid to host the event, but Marca reported that he favored a joint bid.
“We need to present a strong, consistent and winning bid for the 2018 World Cup. Personally, I think it should be with Portugal,” Villar was reported to have told a federation function.
Candidates to host the 2018 World Cup include Mexico, the United States, England, Russia, Qatar, China, Australia, Japan and a combined Netherlands-Belgium bid.
