Real Sociedad midfielder Xabi Alonso is a suprise inclusion in the Spanish squad for the friendly match with Ecuador next week.

The skillful youngster has been promoted from the under-21 side and is one of two uncapped players in the squad. The other is Athletico Madrid’s left footed midfielder Luis Garcia.

Raul has been left out as he recovers from an appendix operation. His Real Madrid team mate Fernando Morientes has been included despite a recent lack of first tea football.
