Lazio defender Jaap Stam has agreed to join Serie A rivals Milan according to the player’s agent.

Lazio are resigned to losing the Dutch defender in the summer and with Milan are looking for a replacement for ageing defender Paolo Maldini, a deal has been struck.

Stam’s agent Henk van Ginkel has confrimed that an agreement is in place.

“At the end of this campaign Stam will leave Lazio. Next year he’ll be playing for Milan,” van Ginkel told Calciomercato.com.

“We have drawn up an agreement for a two-year contract and only started talks with Milan after the two clubs had reached their own understanding.”
