Lazio midfielder Dejan Stankovic claimsManchester United have been monitoring him and team-mate Claudio Lopez at the cash-strapped Italian club.
“Ihave understood that Alex Ferguson’s brother was in the stands watching me and Lopez during the cup game with Roma,’ said Serbian midfielder.
“Fortunately, I played well, so I hope he will have good things to report back in England. I don’t know about negotiations between the clubs, but I’ll ask as soon as I come back.”
The transfer speculation comes after Jaap Stam’s agent confirmed that Lazio may have to be declared bankrupt in order to pay Staam his signing on fee.
Stankovic and Claudio Lopez have both been having excellent seasons, so Lazio will only sell if they are forced to in order to raise money.
