Empoli striker Francesco Tavano, who has scored 18 goals in Serie A this season, says he is ready to join one of Italy’s bigger clubs.

The 27-year-old, who has an outside chance of being included in Italy’s World Cup squad, has been linked with both Fiorentina and Inter.

“I think my performances this season have shown that I could play for a team challenging for something important,” said Tavano.

However, he would face competition at Inter and Fiorentina against the likes of Aariano and Luca Toni respectively.

“Adriano? Toni? I don’t know where I’ll go,” he added. “Empoli will decide that because I’m contracted to them for another three years.

“I’m really sorry I’ve been injured. I wanted to train with these team-mates, but I hope this could be the beginning of an adventure and that I can return to the Azzurri set up.”
