Arsenal’s hard fought victory over Sunderland takes them back to the top of the Premiership with the Gunners now BP 9-4 to win the title.

The Football Association has confirmed that John Terry has been sent for a ‘precautionary’ scan on his knee after the England skipper was forced to withdraw from training.

Terry now looks a major doubt for both England’s forthcoming Euro 2008 qualifiers against Estonia and Russia.

Terry is understood to have pulled out of training on Wednesday, before the problem deteriorated further when he reported back to the team hotel.

Should Terry fail to make either game, then a recall for Sol Campbell looks likely, although manager Steve McCalren also has Joleon Lescott and Micah Richards as possible alternatives.
