Bayern Munich coach Felix Magath has told Jurgen Klinsmann that the time has come to he announce his number one goalkeeper for the World Cup.

Klinsmann has been alternating between Bayern’s Oliver Kahn and Arsenal’s in-form Jens Lehmann, and he has given no indication as to who will secure the number one berth.

“We have all seen that things are reaching a head now and that is something that Jurgen Klinsmann seems to have underestimated,” Magath said.

“Oliver has to shoulder all the pressure as the current number one. Jens Lehmann has nothing to lose, as he can only become number one.

“Klinsmann would do both me and FC Bayern a huge favour if he made his decision soon. I would have done it long ago.”

Magath stressed his full support for Kahn despite his indifferent form.

“Oliver Kahn is someone who brings a wealth of experience to a team and that will help us a lot,” he added.

“Jens Lehmann’s personality has never helped a team progress.”
