Klaus Toppmoller, the coach who last year led Bayer Leverkusen to within touching distance of an historic treble, has been fined 3000 euros for unsportsmanlike conduct.

Toppmoller was charged for gestures made to officials during the German Cup Final. The Leverkusen coach was given his marching orders in the 61st minute. Fifteen minutes earlier the then Schalke 04 coach Huub Stevens had also been banished to the stands.

Stevens is still waiting for a decision from the German Football Association (DFB). Schalke 04 went on to win the match and the Cup, 4-2.

Leverkusen were also defeated in the European Cup final and missed out on the league title on the foinal day of the season.
