The agent of striker Fernando Torres has denied having any contact with Arsenal.

The north London club have been linked with the Atletico Madrid forward and speculation is rife that they will attempt to sign the player in 2006.

According to reports in the British press, Arsenal sent a scout to watch Torres in Atletico’s match with Sevilla at the weekend.

However, Torres’ agent, Jose Antonio Martin, insists he has had no contact with anyone from Arsenal in over a year.

“The last time I spoke with Arsenal was a year and a half ago,” he told Marca. “As of today, there has been no contact.”

Meanwhile, Torres’ compatriot Jose Antonio Reyes, still feels Thierry Henry is a better player than his international colleague.

“Who is better?” he commented. “Right now, Henry is superior – he is the best forward in Europe.

“He is 28 years old and El Nino is only 21, but already a great player with time to progress.”
