Tottenham have confirmed they are negotiating to sign Roma striker Mido on loan, and the player admits a deal could be imminent.

The 21-year-old striker has been linked with a move to the Premiership since the transfer window opened and is keen to leave Italy.

“The deal will be confirmed shortly, but the contract hasn’t been signed yet,” said his official website.

But Mido’s agent Mino Raiola claims a Tottenham are just one of a number of clubs interested in signing the Egyptian striker.

“Tottenham are one of the teams interested, but no agreement has been reached so far,” he said.

“In fact there are 15 teams in France, England and Spain and two in Italy that are interested in Mido.

“We are evaluating the situation and we hope to reach an agreement with one of the teams, but that doesn’t mean Tottenham are the favourites.

“They are talking about a loan deal until the end of he season because that is what Roma want.”

The former Ajax player, joined Roma for £3.9m from Marseille last September, but has fallen out of favour at the Stadio Olympico.
