Tottenham have completed the signing of Manchester City defender Vedran Corluka in a deal reported to be worth £9.5m.

“We are delighted to announce that we have reached agreement with Manchester City for the transfer of Vedran Corluka to the club,” read a statement on Spurs’ official website

The Croatia international came close to a move to Tottenham last month only for City change their mind over the sale.

After City pulled the plug on the deal, the defender submitted a transfer request, but with the signing of Pablo Zabaleta the club agreed to sell Corluka.

The 22-year-old leaves City after making 41 appearances since arriving in August 2007.

Corluka admitted he was delighted to be making the move to Tottenham and linking up with his Croatia team-mate Luka Modric.

“I am delighted to be here because I am coming to a big club with great players, great ambition and also my best friend [Luka Modric] is here so it is a very happy day for me,” Corluka told the club’s official website.
