Tottenham Hotspur have withdrawn their offer fo Crystal Palace winger Wayne Routledge.

The Premier League club have had two bids for Routledge rejected by Palace and with Routledge out of contract at the end of the season they know they will be able to pick him up for a nominal fee in the summer.

“With Routledge I am happy to leave it until the summer,” admitted Spurs coach Martin Jol.

“I have been able to bring in more than I thought and no one will leave, we need as many options as possible.

“People talk about young players needing time to settle but if Routledge can play for Palace, he could play for us.

“He is young but a regular guy. He could cope, but you never know.”
