Roma captain Francesco Totti has ruled out an immediate return to the Italian national team.
The 30-year-old striker, who has represented his country 58 times, decided to take a break from international football after they won last year’s World Cup.
“I’ve got better things to do at the moment,” he was quoted as saying by Italian news agency ANSA on Friday.
Totti has rarely produced his best form for the national team and even during last summer’s triumph he was a subdued figure throughout the tournament.
